HerdLook is a smart record-keeping app for cattle and livestock producers. It stores complete herd profiles โ health, weight, breeding, vaccination, movement, and sale records โ all organized by animal and fully searchable.
What makes HerdLook different: the camera-assisted animal identification feature. Using your phone's camera, you can photograph an animal and the app uses image recognition to match it against your saved reference photos โ helping you quickly identify a specific animal in the field without reading a tag number or flipping through records.
Estimated testing time: 10โ15 minutes ยท Device used: phone / tablet / computer
We're looking for cattle producers, livestock managers, veterinarians, and anyone involved in animal husbandry to test HerdLook before its public launch.
What the app does: Manages herd records with camera-assisted animal identification. Take a photo, match it to a saved animal profile, and instantly access that animal's full record โ health history, breeding status, vaccinations, movements, and more.
Who should test it: Cattle farmers and ranchers, livestock managers, large animal veterinarians, 4-H and FFA students, or anyone who works with animals and needs a simple way to track individual records.
What feedback is wanted: How well does the camera-based ID work for you? Is record-keeping intuitive? Are the labels and categories clear? Any bugs or confusing steps? Your honest feedback shapes the final product.
Note: This is an early beta โ expect occasional quirks. The camera ID feature works best on phones with good cameras.
Open the beta app and try these things while you explore:

No. HerdLook is 100% local โ no cloud, no account, no sign-up. All data stays in your browser. The beta comes pre-loaded with a demo herd (2 animals) so you can start exploring immediately.
You save reference photos for each animal. Then, from the Camera Lookup screen, you take a new photo and the app compares it against your saved reference photos to find the closest match. This is image-recognition-based identification โ no RFID or tags required.
Fill out the form on this page and click Submit at the bottom. Your feedback is sent directly to Jade Rose Technology โ no email app needed.
Yes. Your name, email, and all feedback is kept private and used only to improve the app. We do not sell or share your personal information with anyone.
Use the export/backup feature in the app's Settings to save your data as a JSON file. This beta stores everything in your browser โ clearing browser data will reset it. A cloud sync version with accounts is planned for the full release.
